The knock ears is also a good idea but I don't have experience with them unfortunately.

I've cut so much timing out of those load cells/RPMs that I'm actually running less timing there than the stage 1 gas map. Seems like it may have helped, but hard to say since like you said, the knock seems to appear randomly. I might eventually take your approach and just view it as phantom knock, but going to try one more thing first. If I find something that eliminates this annoying KC, I'll let you know.

With a 2.75" straight front pipe, I had all sorts of false knock. I'm guessing perhaps extra vibration at that load or the "harmonics" of the pipe amplifies whatever it is that is causing it to pull timing. That is my best guess, and I'm sticking with that theory until proven otherwise.

The trick is.. not look at it too much. lmao the more you try to reproduce this in logs and staring at it the more annoying it will get. You can play with the cams, fueling or timing to try to reduce (which I did as well). I ended up doing a bit of richening of the fuel map at those loads, pulled a bit of timing and called it done. I also tried adjusting the cams a bit, but after I saw I wasnt really effecting that KC, I decided not to pursue that rabbit down the rabbit hole any further. But if you figure it out, let me know. I would really appreciate it. lol

Edit: while adjusting the cams I did notice where it’s “triggered” seems to move up or down the revs by a couple hundred rpms. It stil had the same KC same amplitude just at a slightly different spot. Now if you manage to make it occur, say, only 20% of the time as opposed to half the time. I’ll call that a win.
