Besides the original equipment that come on the car. I've ran 3 separate catless headers. If a 17 up header falls in my lap, I will likely develop a flex fuel tune for it.
I think cams might have something to do with it. Loose exhaust components will obviously exacerbate the problem. (thats from experience)

That's really interesting that the OE catted FP results in less KC there vs. catless. Wouldn't expect that if the knock was real. Have you ever gotten KC more than -3 degrees at those loads/rpms?
The knock ears is also a good idea but I don't have experience with them unfortunately.
I've cut so much timing out of those load cells/RPMs that I'm actually running less timing there than the stage 1 gas map. Seems like it may have helped, but hard to say since like you said, the knock seems to appear randomly. I might eventually take your approach and just view it as phantom knock, but going to try one more thing first. If I find something that eliminates this annoying KC, I'll let you know.
