I just bought one of the Exedy OEM clutch kits from 86speed a couple of weeks ago. I also got the revised OEM throwout bearing from Subaru.
- The OEM bearing had a dot of white paint on the side, the Exedy bearing did not.
- The box for the OEM bearing noted the country of origin as Japan, whereas the Exedy bearing's box was marked made in China.
My conclusion from this was that while I don't know whether or not the Exedy bearing is made to the "revised" specs, they are not coming from the same factory unless the country of origin was mislabeled on one of them. I put the OEM bearing in.
