Agree completely. My point was that BRZ/86 sales aren't even rounding error in the grand scheme of things. Toyota sells more Camry's in one day than BRZ/86's in a year. The car may be more important to Subaru (being a smaller company), but it's less than trivial to the financial bottom line.
It's easy for a company to justify things based on financial metrics. If a product is a big money-maker, it's a no-brainer to do it. But if the reasons are other than financial - as the BRZ/86 must be - then those justifications can change on a whim or with a change in management.
