The lightest 16-inch wheel available is the TWS T-66F (forged), at about 4.8 kg. (Yes, you can save 10lb per wheel.)

But if you go up to 17-inch, wheel weight goes up significantly. The TWS T-66F comes in at about 6.3kg, and Volks Racing (TE-37 and CE-28) goes up to almost 7kg. Almost everything else is 17lb and above. Spending about US$3,000 on a set of 17-inch wheels to save 6lb (each) seems very expensive.

I spent US$1,000 on a set of used 16-inch TE-37 and save almost 4kg per wheel, that seemed more economical to me. Oh, but I haven't told you about the 2-piece front brake rotor that saves 6lb per corner.

All I can say is that after you have shed more than 6.5 kg (unspring weight) per front corner, you will never go back to monster wheels.
