Do you have normal street tires, or do you have super grippy tires while you shift aggressively into high RPMs from lower RPMs.

4th gear is a Common issue due to the single cone compared to triple cones 1, 2, and 3 (one third of the surface area of gears to spread the loads). Doesn't mean gears 5 and 6 are free from this problem. Other parts of the transmission are also not designed to hold more loads, as CSG Mike mentioned.

Why is 2nd so finicky?! It’s the one gear that I’m always very careful about. In the “winter” (I live in north Texas), I usually skip 2nd until the trans fluid is warmed up. Even in the summer I’m careful. Going into 1st there is sometimes resistance, but I can usually move back into neutral, then back into 1st and everything is fine. I’m sure that shift feel, and being able to hold torque in each gear, aren’t always directly related.
I’m at stock power levels on the Michelin Primacys. With more power I would be very paranoid about the six speed holding up. [emoji28]Some of you guys are really brave. I still think it’s a great transmission, with a really solid mechanical feel. I think it’s similar to a Honda MT, maybe not quite as precise.
