Well yea, the length of the red piece would (fully extended) represent the max travel the a-pillar would have from its clipped in position in the event of a deployment, but the plan is to remove the bag.. first car ive ever had with side curtain airbags.
My thinking was it might be as simple as a quarter turn of the mounting point or something... but i didnt want to try it and snap it (yet) in the event there was a simple method or a service manual somewhere..
