You can manually downshift with AT in both manual and auto mode, very quick and with rev match. It is only an issue with AT, just like MT, if all you do is push the throttle and hold your breath.

I am not crowing or arguing with anyone's preference. But the fact is that shifting gears is an important part of technical driving. When it is done right, this engine is supposed to be outside torque dip. This car requires and rewards technical driving. Without the effort of driver, it might be a dull experience.
