My manager has been trying to get me to rush a project to a deadline given by our finance team. We've had all kinds of external delays that keep pushing its progress. Now he wants me to finish the code changes by Friday, deploy them by next week, start doing the testing all of next week (yes during christmas week) and then doing the actual release the following week ("by Dec 28-30!"). One other problem is that we have a company-wide code "freeze" starting this week through Jan due to the holidays, where we aren't supposed to push any new changes.

Meanwhile he mentions that he agrees with this senior engineer dude in my org about how we should avoid crunch-style work, how it's bad for us and bad for our customers, and we shouldn't let ourselves get pushed into it.

Oh and then today he decided to announce to the team that he's taking PTO Friday through Jan 4.

This is on top of me already being scheduled to be on-call for pager duty from Christmas Day through New Years Day.

Sorry just felt like venting that fun stuff out.
