Look at the STI Type RA. People were crying and moaning for almost two decades that we never got the hot STIs here and they were strictly for JP/EU markets only, knowing damn well they were 45-60k or more over there too. Then we finally get one her and the overwhelming majority of people say “lol I can build a way better STI for 50k”. And it was even worse with the S209 lol. Some of the dealers that got them had them sitting for months before they moved.

Granted the GR Yaris is waaayyyy different to the base model, but it’s easy for people to arm chair from behind a computer and say “man I’d totally buy that if it was sold here” because there’s no commitment associated with it. It’s just talk. Out of all the people saying they’d buy, how many could ACTUALLY afford to buy? And of those, how many actually would?

IF it ever came here, it’d almost certainly be a very limited/low production vehicle. But that’s just my opinion.

All good points, but I think the GR Yaris would sell in the states. It might take a little longer to sell each one, but they would sell. I think it’s been the same with every special model of a performance car. A buddy of mine bought an Integra TypeR new that had been sitting at the Acura dealership for months. He paid pretty close to asking price. And all the while it was drawing people in to look at it, or want to test drive it. Which thankfully they didn’t let anyone test drive it. They also had an NSX that was in their showroom for a long time. I’m not sure if they eventually sold it to someone, or maybe the dealership owner bought it. I guess what I’m saying is these types of cars bring people in to dealerships, and maybe they will end up buying something else. And one of us crazy people will actually buy a GR Yaris. [emoji16]
