I'm assuming they are concerned about lifting the car on four jack stands on a slightly sloped driveway. I would just lift the front for the tranny and the rear for the diff fluid changes.

I myself have been wondering about this and even though the slope on mine is minimal, the idea makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I only lift front or back on my driveway.
