personally, i prefer to buy new or nearly-new simply for the fact that i can better track maintenance records, and keep the vehicle up to my quality standards.

I find it depends on the purpose of the vehicle. A fun sporty car, yeah everything you just said. A winter beater or cheap commuter, mmmmm depends...
