This! Just go with what's important to you. If you are just using the car as a daily driver, go with whatever wheels you feel look good and fits your budget. 17x8 will drive nicer than 18x9.5 but to some won't look as nice. You will have to decide which is more important to you. If you only drive to and from work or school or whatever you do daily the performance potential will matter less than how the car looks to many people.

Coilovers will come with recomended settings. Start with that and see how you like them. Want to go lower after a few weeks? You can. Find the ride is too hard? Dial it back a few clicks and see if that is better. There is nothing complicated about it. If you wanted to set it up for the best lap time then that is a bit different. But in all honesty not that different, its still just trial and error.
In summary, take forum opinions with a grain of salt, their goals will be different to yours.
