Some small ring isn't going to carry the entire weight of a car, let alone a fraction, so I don't know who told you that, but they're wrong.

I can melt a set of plastic hubcentric rings almost to beyond recognition in just 1 evening at the track.

That said - it isn't easy to find them in Canada at a reasonable price.
