On the other hand, it pads is gone and backing plate is hitting rotor, you would get some vibration, metal to metal grinding noise, and reduced brake efficiency. And if rotor is under spec, you run into danger of brake pad dropping out from caliper, then you would loose brake completely

Op doesn’t seem to experience any of that so I feel at least some pad materials are still present.

Again, if one doesn’t know how to identify how much pad is left, one really should take it to the shop. It’s for the safety, of op and of others on road
