It's these few crusaders who give the rest of them a bad name, but at the same time the "#noisemaker" campaign really took off and a few other regional police forces adopted enforcement blitzes, to which I can only conclude that it's another cash grab. Especially when barely any one was driving with COVID and revenue from traffic/moving violation tickets hit record lows along with it.

Research! The traffic infractions and tickets hit record HIGHS during the shutdowns. Not only were there more of them but the offences were more severe since people figured they were safe to rip around the almost empty streets. Since they didn't have traffic to hide in they got caught easier than normal.
You nailed it in your closing though. There are two sides to this situations but it is the extremists on each side that are making it worse than it needs to be.
