People replace wheel sets, headers, exhausts, coilovers multiple times. I don't think replacing a compressor for ~$2000 is such a big expense. I just paid $5000 to replace my valve springs. My Rotrex unit is working just fine after 3 years and >30K miles. But I would just buy a new one if it fails. And, replacement is such a trivial job.
