I remember when the 350SXF came out. A lot of people mistook it for a big 250, when really it felt more like a light 450. It punches well above it's weight. The older LC4 based engines where kind of lackluster and old school with a lot of KTM quirks. After they came out with the SXF line of bikes with the new dual overhead cam design, which is still pretty trick by today standards, they improved a lot. Even the more modern version of the original LC4, like what is in my 690, is light years above their early designs.
