What it looks like is more of a negative curvature, where the fender fails in and outward to make it look like the fender is flat above the wheel and moves into the the new body line that joins the cooling ducts behind the front wheel.

If you look at the cowl area, the hood does slope downward quite aggressively. The lumps of the fenders just creates an illusion of a lower hood. Maybe it moves a few millimetres, but not to the extent that I would say it is meaningfully higher. |
Yea i see it now, the fender bumps are making the hood look lower on the first gen.
It’s amazing how they pull that off while only being barely taller than the middle of the hood.
