1. Our springs will be firmer than the Chuhatsu springs. We're at 182 lbs/in front and 238 lbs/in rear (3.25 and 4.25 kg/mm). Chuhatsu are 129 lbs/in front and 206 lbs/in rear. That's softer than stock BRZ up front for reference, while ours are about 20% firmer. That's not like, super stiff...our RCE Yellows are 250 lbs/in front and rear for reference.
2. Ours won't be quite as high as the Chuhatsu springs. We're doing a 15mm lift (0.6 inches) vs their 1 inch.
Combined with the firmer spring rates, the goal is to make the most of the available travel. So our lift with firmer than stock rates will keep the suspension from bottoming and in a range where it can work.
Rates were chosen based on experience, testing, and consultation with rally experts. We set the front and rear suspension frequencies to around 1.6 Hz front and rear which is a nerdy way of saying that the spring rates happen to match general recommendations for rally driving (though that wasn't the primary factor).
And we're getting really close! Picked out a color (at least for the prototypes) which is a great sign.
