New Battery Time

Well, went to start the car to go to work Friday morning, and all the dash lights were flashing on and off, plus the interior light was diming, then brighter then diming. Didn't have time to deal with it so grabbed the Suburban keys and drove the big girl to work.

Saturday, car was completely dead. Opened the hood and the vents on the battery both had popped off. The Grimspeed battery tie down I have (the one that is aluminum and looks like opposing pistons) was half corroded but no other damage.

Trying to buy a battery in the middle of Independence Day and the pandemic proved to be problematic. The current battery (my second, an Interstate Megatron II, or something like that) had some warranty left but no place that sold them, including Interstate themselves was open. Since the warranty was down to the 10% discount level anyway, I went ahead and bought one at the Advance Auto near my house.

Went with a Diehard Gel Cell battery. We'll see how that does.

Installing the battery, the Grimspeed (which I cleaned up and wasn't too bad) wouldn't fit. Had to revert back to the original battery strap.
