One thing that comes immediately to mind. The 3M tape is bonding to the paint, not the trunk lid. If the paint is defective (lifts easily) then the tape isn't going to hold. Is it the tape separating cleanly from either the spoiler or the lid, or is it the paint separating from the car/spoiler with the tape?

If the tape is separating cleanly, then the area probably wasn't prepped correctly. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does have to be done per the instructions.

If it's the paint that's lifting with the tape, then there's your problem.

(Not saying it is, it's just that came to mind when reading this)
