But last night it started getting itchy again and a little irritated, and then I woke up an hour ago because it was unbearably itchy and swollen enough that I currently cannot bend that toe. So I just checked in online for a local urgent care that opens at 8am to get it checked out.

Good idea to get it checked out.
Meanwhile, I suggest you coat your toe with Neosporin ointment, then apply a powder coat of baking soda, then soak your foot in a warm bath of Epson salts.
If the inflammation doesn't go away in one week, just wrap a rubber band around the toe and the infected toe will fall off in a few months. That worked for my grandmother, back in the hills of West Virginia. Yes, my grand
father wasn't the only one to tell back-in-the- day stories.
