Or maybe you were trying to detect different portion of NVH, which stands not just for noise and harshness, but also vibration. From my experience (using perrin's steering rack lockdown though), there is slight increase of vibrations passed from road to steering wheel. It is also as extra feedback though, and those more vibrations weren't ever to level of being tiring or annoying, even during very long drives, so that NVH change that there is can be ignored imho.
