Yeah it's just different cars for different roads. I can appreciate a Hellcat or Demon if you only lived where roads were straight or you visited the drag strip often.
Conversely I could appreciate a Miata or Lotus Exige if you lived close to a lot of windy roads or routinely visited the track.
Or a jeep wrangler if you had good off-road trails nearby.
Or a GSXR-1000 or etc.
I would hope any car journalist/enthusiast could find things to appreciate about any vehicle that was built with fun in mind, as opposed to just harping on things they're bad at. But maybe that's expecting too much, I dunno.
