Well you were rich!

I really shouldn't have said there were no "affordable" ones but more like they are just as affordable now as back then. If you adjust for inflation that affordable 1990 Miata costs about $1,000 less than one today. For that $1,000 more for the newest you get a whole pile more car.
Sure the lower prices look great but the wages were at about the same level so in the long run it is a wash.
Great to sit here and say "Oh those cars were half what they cost now" when the average income was only 40% of what it is now. You know what I mean better than many.
