Are there actually any differences at all between the FA20 on the FRS and BRZ and do they pose any additional challenges when doing a full swap (other than transmission)?
I was also told that when I was shopping around. I don't believe that there are any differences between the FRS and BRZ engines (assuming all the same year model being compared). I had mentioned that my car was a 2013 and I was looking for a 2015/2016 engine and they tell me that it is not compatible based on their database. But with the help of members of this forum who had clarified that the 2015/2016 was a "plug-and-play" to the 2013, I just told them that it would work. Just make sure that all wirings, sensors, coilpacks are there. To keep it simple, if your car is manual look for a manual engine so that you will not have to deal with having to change things around say you ended up getting an engine from an automatic car.
