I would only go FI if you have the time and extra form of transportation to take your sweet time and DIY, this way if/when something may go wrong you are very familiar with your car and FI system to troubleshoot and fix yourself. Even a small issue can sideline your car till resolved and it will take time and money having a shop do it, and your stuck at the timeframe of the shop to fit you in and hope they know how to fix it or don’t just view you as a big cash grab. So DIY and maintain your car yourself much easier.
Or if you have the money and live close enough to one of the reputable shops that specifically specializes in this platform and can have them do full install, tune, and then maintain/troubleshoot their own work. Probably the best option for easy and reliable end user experience but also very expensive compared to DIY.
I would never trust a random shop even a performance oriented shop that doesn’t specifically specialize in this platform though. Thats going to have more headaches than DIY and more cost than the speciality shop in the end.
If you can meet one of these requirements then a low boost FI setup with a few mild supporting mods really shouldn’t be much more difficult to maintain or much less reliable than NA.
