I've been on the fence with the Fumoto valve simply because I look at it and think "is that not going to shear off on a lowered car?" I've heard at least a few accounts of that happening.
I'll think about getting one, though.

Use a funnel and go slow. It's an acquired skill to pour oil out if the pan. I still mess it up sometimes. Thankfully, i didn't spill it yesterday, as we are out of paper towels.
+1 on the fumoto. Get the short drain valve, it is completely above the metal plate below the engine. If you shear it off you probably have bigger problems. I also got the little plastic clip to secure the valve because it's cheap insurance. I literally laughed maniacally the first time I went to drain my oil with it installed. It really makes it that easy.
