Title says it all
Over the next few months I will be moving forward with the Jackson Racing C38 Supercharger Kit for my 86.
I live in North Carolina and the summer here can get humid (not quite like Florida but it gets hot) like 80+ degrees almost every day and humid. But all other seasons are fairly mild (winter is consistently in the 40s, fall and spring 50-70, summer 75-90+)
I don’t track this car, it’s my daily, it has 28,000 miles on it. And I just do NOT want to blow an engine or cause any serious issues. I’ll have the kit just for some every now and then spirited driving, and some 40rolls with random people on the highway once in a while.
I’m looking to reach 270-280 whp, and with the mods I have plus the kit that’s very attainable. (catless UEL, catless FP)
I understand some good options for cooling supercharged 86’s are hood vents, and an oil cooler. I am interested in any other ideas people have as far as fans etc etc (affordable things and keep in mind it’s my daily and I’m not rich).
I’ve seen some information about in the winter an oil cooler can almost prevent the car from getting up to proper running temps. (I understand the cooler is only supposed to kick on to cool down temps once it gets above a certain temp) but for some reason I remember a video saying it made their car have issues in cold days getting up to a good running temp.
So any tips/tricks from you FI guys on ways to keep down temps/if I even really need to get stuff to keep down temps? As I said before I’m no track driver but every once in a while I’ll beat on it, but I typically baby the car. Thanks for taking the time to read this you guys!
P.S. Someone PLEASE tell me how long your stock clutch has held up and how much power you’re making/what setup. I’m hoping to make mine last at least for a good while before replacing. Maybe at least 6 months to a year? Also I’m highly considering doing oil temp and oil pressure gauges so if you guys wanna recommend any good and affordable kits that’d be great (Just something to get the job done nothing really high dollar)
