My dad is like that. He will buy cheap laminate flooring for our rentals even though it takes 3 times as long to install. Last time we worked on a rental he bought the cheapest drain kit he could find for this sink we replaced. Took him easily 3+ hours of messing with it to get it to stop leaking I gave him shit for a while about how if he was paying himself 10/hr he could have bought the most expensive one and still had money left over for beer
Welp, maybe dads are just like that -

For example, a few years back when I remodeled out house, I bought two new toilets. Yep, the made in China ones were half the price, so I bought two and installed them. About two years later the one in the girls bathroom started leaking, so, I replaced it (thinking if failed just because the girls were using it as a jump off place to get to the sink) with a twice as expensive one made in the USA.

About a year ago, the cheap one in our bathroom cracked and started leaking. So, I bought a twice as expensive one and put it in the garage - to be installed shortly. @Ultramaroon most likely saw it in the garage and wondered why it was there -

Anyway, I fixed the leak with plumbers putty and taped up the crack in the seat with duck tape. Good enough? mrs humfrz thought not - so, Monday, I'm going to replace it - or ask my off work son-in-law to replace it -

END OF DAD STORY
