Drivers meetings aren't very socially distant. Neither is the group drinking after the day is done.
I also suspect the EMS guys could better spend their time transporting the elderly than sitting around at a track - especially in Sebring which at one time had the oldest population of any city in the US. (might still - haven't checked in 5 or 6 years)
I personally think it's a bit silly also but whatever helps flatten the curve I suppose.
