Personally, I'm glad for the lack of spare wheel, I'll sleep more comfortably in the back without that lump, and be glad when I fill the space with a subwoofer.
For trips up north WA I'll buy a cheap WRX space-saver.
I'm sure Toyota are not glad to piss off a segment of their customers, but they probably felt the need to cut costs for reasons we aren't privy to. I dont think they have any illusion of cultivating a new generation of brand loyal enthusiasts, because its pretty clear we will keep coming back as long as they are making the best/cheapest rear wheel drive sports car, and if someone else makes a better 86 no one is going to keep buying the Toyota 86 out of loyalty to Toyota I dont think?
