The MTEC springs and a polyurethane shifter stay bushing improve the feel of the stock shifter, notably the centering return and engagement into the gears. I'd suggest trying that combo before buying a shifter. If you want to take it a step further, the shift lever bushings can be replaced as well.

There was a new part number for the shifter for 17+ models, but I've yet to read if there is actually a difference.
