Yeah, mine was off the engine already. Thankfully this SC isn't that hard to remove and install. It's definitely a bit heavy but I was able to get it on and off myself, three times during the installation, and I'm only 5'6 150lbs. A couple things that I found to be helpful for installation are:

1.) I use lots of zip ties to pull the engine wiring harnesses and connectors completely clear of a straight, top-down SC installation path. The SC needs to be seated on the engine already aligned to the mounting holes to avoid any need for further lateral movement once down. Bolt it down right after that. Sliding the seated SC on the engine can pull the gaskets out of SC gasket groove and damage them which won't be discovered until you start the car and find a vacuum leak. This is really easy to happen on this kit due to the weight of the SC. The Edelbrock SC instructions recommend sliding the SC back and forth to aid in subsequent installation steps, but I personally found this to be not the best recommendation.

2.) I put a few spots of sticky dielectric grease in the straight sections of the empty gasket groove before loading the gasket. This will help retain the gasket when it's hanging upside down for SC installation. The groove design should really employ some positive retention features for the gasket given how critical it is to stay installed.
