Not quite into painting yet, though I've been known to panel line and topcoat my favorites. "Real Grades" are my favorites, and I have a few Masters (notably an MG RX-93-v2 Hi-Nu Gundam Ver.Ka, which was the mobile suit I based the current aesthetic of my 86 on) and some special one-off mech kits that I'm killing to paint, but I have to learn to airbrush properly first. Tips welcome, I'd assume that a lot of the same techniques that painters of automobiles can be used the same for robots.
I have never once seen a Gundam show but have considered building one of the kits for a while. I have even got one to the cashier at one point before changing my mind. I would be painting and weathering it though.
I am a big fan of the Bandai Star Wars line since their detail and engineering are exquisite so I have high hopes for their other kits.

I would go for something like this (only with more "dirt")
