I have to wonder though.
Hypothetically, say the car was still under warranty and I did some work myself that introduced some sealant into the engine. Then the engine began knocking and experienced catastrophic failure.
Then say their mechanic removed the oil pan and inspected the pick up tube only to find the same quantity of sealant. Would their reply be "the mechanical failure of the motor has nothing to do with the presence of sealant you introduced"? "We will happily fix it under warranty."
Hmmmm, I think their response would entirely different.
