Why make them darker so that people have a harder time seeing the back of your car at night?

Y jest last night, I drove my car up to the jack-in-the-box to get the little woman a deluxe burger (with fries). I was dark and pouring down rain.

Some kid came towards me in some sort of civic with blue headlights that looked like two arc welders. Totally messed up what little night vision I had left. Then some jerk kid in another civic slammed on his brakes in front of me. Of course I couldn't see his tail/stop lights, because he had "darkened" them. Sure as hell I would have run into him but he lost control and ran off the road, because his wheels were so squatted out he couldn't keep it on the road -

OK, since you live in Ohio and I live in Washington, go ahead and spray paint your tail lights black - jest don't come out here on vacation and get in front of an 77 year old man in a Saturn -

Nooo. I wouldn’t spray paint my tail lights lol. Here is a picture of my old 6th gen Celica. I had the taillights professionally done. Zero issues seeing my taillights at night time.
