Cars can evolve over time, but they generally stay in the same class. This is a class (not just size) lower than the Corolla just like a Honda Fit is lower than a Civic. The quality will be proportionally lower today than as it was in 2008. Maybe they can polish a turd enough to make it nice, but generally speaking, that doesn’t happen.

Some people don’t mind that a $25k Mustang shares so much with an $80k Mustang GT500. In that sense, maybe they can make the Yaris be bad ass, but some will always notice that they shined up a turd and see what’s lacking. I shined up my BRZ, so who knows, even I could eat my words about this Yaris.
