As others have said, nothing to worry about.

My Rusty brake rotor story

Seems even a large dealer certified Mech can’t tell the surface rust from severe corrosion…

Car was bought mid April 2019 had come in off the boat to dealer’s lot end of March…

I just drove it cross country in August and needed a 20k KM service. My brother-in-law had washed/scraped off the bugs and whatnot that had accumulated on such a journey for me the night before so car sat wet overnight.

Got serviced at a Big Subaru dealer in Vancouver following morning where he gets his Forester serviced. When I picked it up Service rep was quite concerned about the rotor integrity as his tech had noted as per my invoice “Looks like car has been sitting for a while and had created pad transfer on all rotors we have cleaned as best we could possible noise vibration in future (customer to monitor)

Thankfully I finally made it back home without and problems, the PP brakes don’t shake at all and still do a nice short metallic squeak coming to a slow stop after an energetic ride so all is good!

Back at my local dealer for the 30k Km service, no mention of ANY found issues. Side note: My dash cam recorded some swearwords as it got disconnected as the car rolled into the service bay… Always an adventure bringing a perfectly operating vehicle to a dealer…
