With the FR-S I like to try and keep the RPM around 3,000 - 3,500 on the highway in 6th gear, which equals about 65-70 mph. In the Corolla with a CVT it was much “easier” to go faster on the hwy. It’s not a faster car, just easier to speed on the freeway. [emoji28]

around 4 years ago, the illinois state highway patrol launched a massive "drive 45" initiative in construction zones during the summer construction season. they said they were going to be out in force more then ever before.

so once, i tried. i agreed with what they were trying to do, and i agreed people need to slow down in construction zones. so that time, as i entered the construction zone, i got over to the far right lane, and set cruise control at exactly 45mph. i might as well have been pedaling a bike at the indy 500.

after nearly dying more times than i could count in 10 minutes, i gave up and sped up to traffics 60-70mph. paying even a $5,000 fine for going the speed of traffic was better than seeing my picture on the front page "local driver cause of multi-car pile up when he takes semi up ass"
