Yep, we received this turporken from Cajun country. It weighed in at about 5 pounds. Now, the instructions on the tag said to bake it (covered) at 375 degrees F for 3 hours, uncover it and cook it for another 1 hour.

Now, that seemed to be a lot of cooking, so I looked it up on their web site, sure enough, it said the same thing. So, I popped that Cajun seasoned roll of turkey/pork tender loin/chicken in the oven and took a 2 hour nap.

My first mistake was to follow their cooking instructions, my second mistake was taking a nap while it was cooking. After 2 hours, I woke up, checked the internal temperature in several places with two different thermometers.

The average internal temperature was 211 degrees F!

Shit! So I yanked it out of the oven. When I tried to unwrap the netting off the burnt piece of meat, it had "fused" with the outer part and when I finally got it off it took most of the seasoning with it.

I tried to cut it with my sharpest knife without success. I was about to get my sawsall to "carve" it, but just decided to beat it to pieces with a hammer.

OK, family, back to the heavy horse-du-vers, then we will have desert. (yes, I know - JD001 already caught it).
