At that mileage, I would take a look at your serpentine belt and look for any cracks. If you see any cracking, that means the rubber is drying out and that is something you should replace.

Not the serpentine belt, the timing belt. The only reason for doing the water pump when replacing the timing belt is because on an engine like that you have to remove the timing belt again to replace the water pump, so while it's all apart to replace the timing belt (which does require replacement) it was common to replace the water pump since it's a cheap part and everything is apart already. Timing belt jobs were easily $1000, to not replace a $100 part while you're in there is just silly.
Not doing the water pump while doing the timing belt would be like replacing a clutch and reusing the throwout bearing.
