It's a single din because they removed the room for a CD Slot, which to be honest I've never used in both HU I've had in this car for 7 years. Hell, even the custom PC's I've built for 10 years I don't have a CD tray anymore.
@ Yoshoobaroo installed an AX5000 so he has more experience and can probably answer your questions or has pictures. He did say the crutchfield harness he bought was truly plug and play.
For my pioneer HU, I had to splice wires with a metra wiring harness, use a different HD radio antenna wire, different USB connector in the little cubby, and brackets on the side of the radio to fill in the extra spacing. |
Oddly, the 8000 is resistive and the 5000+7000 are capacitive, and even though the 8000 is 2'' larger, the resolution is the same (both are 800x480). It looks like the 7000 is identical to the 5000, but it has a built in amp with 100wt vs 55wt.
