Yesterday a guy pulled alongside me, the usual revving his engine, looking at me, bobbing his head, hand gestures pointing forward, clearly messaging he wanted to 'race' - and he was in a 1970's vintage Triumph TR6.
I don't understand that at all. He was an 'older' guy like me (both of us looking at 60 in the rearview mirror). My stupid 'street racing' days are long behind me (like, high school in the 1970's, around the time his Triumph was built). I thought most British car owners were cooler than that (especially ones driving antiques). Was my Japanese car that much of a threat to his manhood that he had to try and goad me into 'racing' to prove he had a bigger dong? Could he not stand the idea that a modern Japanese car was (probably much) faster than his 'proper British sports car'? For a couple of guys in their 60's?!?!?
I just thought it was pathetic, and ignored him. Maybe he had early-onset Alzheimer's Disease, and somehow snuck out of the house and took his old car for a ride.
