So here are my thoughts..

Toyota can cut costs by replacing the full-sized spare with a tyre repair kit. For those of us who are already in a contract with delivery on September or after, we are obviously not getting what we originally thought we would get. And therefore have the right to cancel the contract. But given the long waiting lists, Toyota are probably pretty certain that anyone that pulls out will be quickly replaced with another customer almost ASAP. Thus, Toyota can pretty much cut corners now, and tell us customers that are in this position to get screwed or someone else will be happy to take your order?

That being said, I;m not going to cancel my order but from the moral/ethical standpoint of a consumer I still think it is wrong.

And I understand that for some owners, this is a good thing because you never wanted the full-size spare to begin with, but that doesn't mean that Toyota should be allowed to change the product of orders that are already in a contract.

Anyway. I have ordered a 86 myself for November delivery, so probably october build. And I'm not going to cancel it. I will probably try to get some freebies from my dealer (not sure how much bargaining power I'm going to have though)

And if anyone wants to swap their full-sized spare and cover for the repair kit, throw me a PM. My car is due for delivery in November.
