I ended up just putting 2.1 quarts in running the engine and drained a little of it out the overflow. It was still flowing out.
I checked the overflow when I first drained and very little came out. 110k miles. I guess you loose some of the fluid.
I drove it for 800 miles so far after the change and it hasn’t blown up yet. Cross my fingers. Lol. Did feel a lot smoother.

You're jumping the wrong pins maybe? You shouldn't be losing fluid in a sealed system, it was likely due to incorrect temp.
