I'm going to ask around at the next event I go to, but in the meantime I'd like to do some reading/watching. All the videos I find on youtube are advertisements for driving instructors and do not include any actual instruction.

This is one of those activities where you have to actually do it while getting instruction, not just read up on it.
It's like reading/watching about going to the gym, vs actually going. All the reading in the world will not help you become a better driver, and without making the errors in person, you won't understand what you are reading.
