Wanna hear a story? I thought not, but, I'm gonna tell it anyway.

During August, back on the farm, was wild blackberry season. After the chores were done, and in the heat of the day, I would make two pales out of gallon coffee cans and use baling wire for handles.

I then would head to the back 40, right at the edge of where the woods had been cleared for cropping and the swampy area started, to gather berries. Yes, it was hot and humid and the berry bushes were very thorny, but I was tough, except for the mosquitos, gnats and sweat bees biting me and the hornets wanting to sting me.

After a couple of hours I would have the pales filled with berries and head for the cool of the maple shaded barnyard. I would grab a large bowl from the kitchen, fill it with berries, stop by the milk house and skim off some cream from the guernsey cow milk, pour over the berries, sit back under a shade tree and eat about a gallon of them. Life was good -

THE END

Now let me understand this.

What dark evil resides beyond the edge of woods..? Deep into it's swampy gaze, and maze like interior, have you ever explored it to find something? Did you ever wonder what lay beyond, into the darkness?

Was there creature? Was there man? Or was it the very swamp itself, which would consume all man?
