My good friend has an AP1. We track (road course) together 20+ days a year. We have met down a straight a few times and we are extremely close on acceleration. +1 for the Edlebrock supercharger over the crawford kit.

+1 for choose another car. There are better street car options for the price. I would never have bought an FRS for the street. Its a hell of a track car tho! Since you mentioned it. The Fiesta ST is capable of 300hp. Now that is a fun/practical street car IMO!
What actually competes with the 86 though..? RWD, decently practical, affordable.. These are hard shoes to fill, especially when you consider aftermarket support.

Ain't nobody buying a discontinued Hyundai.
